A motorcyclist has died following a collision with a car in Richmond on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

The Richmond RCMP says officers responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle at the intersection of No. 1 Road and Lockhart Road at approximately 4:43 p.m.

BC Emergency Health Services attended the scene and provided medical assistance. The motorcyclist was transported to hospital in serious condition but later died from their injuries.

Police have not released the identity of the victim and have not said whether any other injuries were reported.

The Richmond RCMP Serious Crime Unit has taken over the investigation.

No further details have been released as investigators work to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal collision.
