A Vancouver Police Department (VPD) constable has been charged with several criminal offences, according to court records.

Witnesses reported seeing numerous police officers at the residence of Cst. Kal Dosanjh, with investigators carrying several boxes of documents from the property as part of the investigation.

Court Services Online records show Dosanjh has been charged with fraud, theft and breach of trust. 

Authorities have not yet publicly released details about the allegations or the circumstances that led to the charges. Vancouver police are expected to provide additional information at a scheduled news conference Friday.

Thursday afternoon, the BC Prosecution Service stated that the alleged offence dates vary between the nine counts, but the earliest date alleged is December 8, 2017, and the latest date is July 25, 2025, at or near Vancouver, Surrey, and/or other locations in British Columbia.

Dosanjh appeared at the Justice Centre on at 5 p.m., Thursday evening and Court Services Online updated his status to being in custody.

Dosanjh is a veteran VPD officer and founder of the KidsPlay Foundation, a youth-focused charitable organization aimed at steering young people away from gangs, drugs, and violence. He has been a prominent public figure in Metro Vancouver through his anti-gang advocacy and community outreach work.
