Three good Samaritans jumped into Kootenay Lake in Nelson to go after a truck that drove over the embankment and into the water on Saturday.

Nelson Police Department says it received 911 calls around 1:18 p.m. saying a truck had left the parking lot of Chahko Mika Mall and landed in the lake.

The three who dove into the lake were able to rescue the woman in the sinking truck.

Nelson’s police, fire department and BC Emergency Health Services attended the scene where they found the driver had been pulled from the water.

She was checked out by paramedics and released without being taken to the hospital.

Drugs or alcohol have been ruled out as a possible cause of the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
