The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C. said Thursday that Teixeira has now been sentenced to mandatory life imprisonment for murder with no chance of parole for 25 years, and 14 years imprisonment for attempted murder.

In May 2018, CFSEU-BC and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team began a joint investigation into an organized crime group involved in a series of homicides including the murder of Khabra.

Teixeira was charged with first-degree murder of Khabra, who was gunned down on Oct. 23, 2017, outside a residence in the 14300-block of Crescent Road. He later died in hospital.

However, Teixeira fled and evaded authorities for three years. He was then arrested in Oroville, Calif., in 2020 and extradited back to Canada where he remained in custody until his trial.

Teixeira already had a criminal record that included a 2016 conviction for possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking. He also has outstanding charges from 2016 for aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and uttering threats.
