The Vancouver Police Department confirmed officers responded to reports of the crash, which tripped the leak from a line “related to the home.”

The Vancouver Fire Rescue Services and Fortis BC responded to help contain the leak, and paramedics transported the driver to hospital.

BC Emergency Health Services confirmed the patient was in stable condition.

Police had blocked eastbound traffic on Grandview Highway, but it has since reopened.

Const. Darren Wong says the circumstances of the crash are under investigation, but it’s “too early to say” if speed or impairment were factors.
