Details are limited, but police say the suspect “accessed an aircraft without authorization.”

The RCMP said the situation was resolved by early Monday morning, and one individual is now in police custody.

A spokesperson for the Vancouver Airport Authority (VAA) says it is aware of the situation and the incident has not interrupted airport operations.

In a statement later Monday morning, the VAA explained that an individual “gained access to the secure apron area near the terminal by going over a fenceline.

It said the situation was contained “within minutes.”

“While all protocols were followed during the incident, we are working with RCMP and partners to review measures, as we do following any response activation, to ensure continued safety and security.”

Mounties say an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
