Robin Nuber was on his way to a photo shoot at Redwood Park in South Surrey when he stumbled upon an altercation. 

This man can be seen clinging onto Nuber’s car as he drives away from the man chasing him with a knife.

“We kept going because he kept coming at us, and then he lost steam and gave up, at that point we pulled over and we saw him toss the knife in the woods,” said Nuber.

“Richard Evoy, a 37-year-old male, has been charged with multiple criminal code offences including assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and uttering threats. He’s currently in custody,” said Sgt. Lindsey Houghton with the Surrey Police Service.

Police say Evoy, the man he chased, and the woman seen in the video are all known to each other and this is not believed to be random.

“Richard Evoy is known to police, previous interactions with police over property related crimes. Thankfully the quick actions and quick thinking and quite frankly good reversing was able to get the victim to safety before officers got there,” said Houghton.

Evoy’s court appearance is expected Monday.

Nuber is still in shock of the events that he stumbled upon.

“Never felt something like this happen, especially in broad daylight, even the firefighters and officers agree it was wild, I mean they all asked to see the video asking, can we see it again because it really does feel like a movie.”

And despite everything that happened, he still ended up making his shoot with the family he had scheduled.

“I had to tell them a few times I might be a few more minutes, but they were able to scout out some cute spots in the park for family photos at the park, very wholesome”
