Joint police effort removes impaired drivers and speeders from Abbotsford roads

On Friday night Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) and Mission RCMP joined forces to man a roadblock on Mission Bridge.

Police say they were looking for signs of impairment and making sure drivers were following traffic laws.

AbbyPD say they impounded six cars for excessive speeding. Many were going over 70 km/h over the posted speed limit.

The AbbyPD Traffic Enforcement Unit was also out in what police call “targeted” areas known for impaired driving.

Officers took 10 impaired drivers off the road in their targeted patrols.

This enforcement comes one week after AbbyPD announced taking 12 impaired drivers off the road in 12 hours.
