The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has implemented an area restriction order around the Bald Range wildfire to support ongoing suppression efforts and help ensure public safety.
The restriction takes effect Aug. 29 and will remain in place until noon on Sept. 12, while firefighting operations continue in the area, unless it is rescinded earlier.
According to BCWS, the order is intended to prevent public interference in areas where wildfire crews continue to work and to protect both residents and emergency responders.
Under the order, members of the public are prohibited from entering or remaining within the restricted area unless they have written authorization.
As part of the restrictions, Princeton-Summerland Road has been closed to traffic until further notice. The only exception is for residents who possess access passes.
Drivers are being advised to use Highway 5A and Highway 3 as alternate routes.
